Continuing the Legacy of Honor, Courage, and Commitment

					
Being "the first" requires a unique mix of courage and commitment. The Marines who have taken these bold steps in service of our country form a symbolic line, one of unwavering dedication that reaches back into history.  In the process, they helped shape the history of the Marine Corps, and inspired new generations to follow their proud legacy as Marines.  As part of our observance of Black History Month, the Marine Corps proudly celebrates the rich heritage of service African Americans have contributed yesterday and today.
