Sgt. Kristopher Kane
History in the USMC
Sergeant Kane joined the Marine Corps in January 2001. After recruit training, he attended the School of Infantry and earned the military occupational specialty as an infantryman. His was then assigned to Company C, 1st Battalion, 3rd Marines. In 2004, he deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Commendation
Sergeant Kane was awarded the Silver Star for heroic actions while serving in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom on November 10, 2004. Kane entered a building amidst armor-piercing rounds from enemy fire to save wounded Marines. His actions were instrumental in the evacuation of Marines needing urgent medical care, and in the destruction of an enemy stronghold.
