Sgt Jonathan Ayersman

Story

History in the USMC

Sergeant Ayersman joined the Marine Corps one month after high school graduation in 1998. After graduating from recruit training and the School of Infantry, he was assigned to Company D, 3rd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion. In 2004, he deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Commendation

Sergeant Ayersman was awarded the Bronze Star for his initiative and courageous actions while serving in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom on November 12, 2004. Ayersman’s leadership, tactical presence of mind, and undaunted courage in the face of unrelenting enemy fire are credited with destroying an enemy mortar position and saving the lives of many Marines.
