America's Marines in Kentucky & Indiana

AMERICA’S MARINES IN KY & IN (Ep 106) 4:23

Male 1:
Our son is in the Marine Corps and we are out here to honor our son and all the other Marines serving this country.

Female 1:
It’s a gorgeous day. There’s a lot of pride. A lot of people came out to support which is always nice to see.

Male 2:
We drove about three hundred miles just to see the Silent Drill.

Female 2:
If it wasn’t for the military, the men and women fighting for us, we wouldn’t have that right and they fight for our rights.

Male 3:
I feel I owe a great debt to all the service members who came before me. For all the rights and freedoms that we have today, we owe to them. I’d like to do my part to repay that debt.

Male 1:
Most people forget that the constitution in the country is just a piece of paper and that the military’s there to back that constitution up and without it, the constitution doesn’t mean anything.

Retired Marine 1:
Most everybody I knew served in the military. The one thing that impressed my parents more than anything else, which was part of the decision, was their skills and their ability to take care of their own.

Retired Marine 2:
It’s one fantastic fraternity and you can go anywhere in the United States and you hear “jarhead” or “Marine” and your ears perk up and everybody’s just like brothers.

Female 2:
As a mother, it makes me feel very proud to know that he wants to serve the country. It’s like I told him, when he turns eighteen and if he wants to join, I will support him.

Male 2:
It makes me real proud and his mom real proud and they got a lot of respect for it.

Retired Marine 1:
It was a great experience, one that most of us say that there are many parts that we would love to have the opportunity to experience it again. Every time you see this unit perform with their abilities, you get a little awestruck.

Marine 1:
There’s nothing quite like the feeling when people come up to you. I mean, I have veterans come up to me all the time, or just people who have never served. They come up to me when I’m in uniform, they shake my hand, they tell me how much they appreciate what I do for them and how much it means to them and it really gives you a good feeling. It really validates why you do what you do.

Male 4:
There’s a difference being made to protect your country and volunteering to protect your country. Someone who says, “I’m going to leave the comforts of home to defend the country”––well, that’s impressive.

Marine 1:
I believe in what this country stands for: for liberty, for justice, for freedom for everybody, and there has to be people that defend that. I just think you need to be really aware of what’s going on in your country and not be afraid to participate and say what you feel.

Male 5:
I’m just proud that there are people who will take time out of their busy lives to do something for their country. Freedom is not free and these young people understand that. I’m proud of them.

Male 6:
You have a sense of safety; that there are young men and women out there who are putting their lives on the line and sacrificing their family time.

Female 1:
They are certainly in our prayers. Right?

Male 1:
To the men and women that are serving this country, we appreciate what you’re doing. Don’t give up and America is a great country and you’re defending everything it stands for.
