Teaching you teamwork

VINCE GAGLIARDI 1:06

Vinnie Gagliardi. I live here in Manhattan, New York City. Was in the Marine Corps 1967 to 1969, lance corporal, 2187551––service number.

There’s no former Marines; once a Marine, always a Marine, so correct that right there. Oh, it’s great thing. I’ve seen them perform in [unintelligible] Washington many times.

Not to brag, but the Marine Corps is like the top of the line as far as the military’s concerned. I mean there’s no more of an intensive training program than what the Marine Corps has––from boot camp… after boot camp, you go into whatever your specialization is; you’re trained for that, and it’s really intense training. Physical training is intense. The Marine Corps will take a boy and make him into a man in thirteen weeks. It teaches you teamwork, teaches you how to work as a group. There’s no individualism. Everybody’s got their job, but there’s always somebody pitching in to do that job. No one man does it.

Be proud to be a Marine, be proud to be an American, be proud to serve your country. The military has given them the right to be free Americans. We’re a free society, and that’s what they’re defending.

Lance Corporal Vince Gagliardi
